(This is sort of AUesque, since they left 50 minutes after arriving at the Hollywood sign, not overnight, but I couldn't really figure out how to stick something in between 14-15-16)
Chase looked down at his hands, or more accurately, the gauntlets that were covering them. The Fistigons, which had to be one of the lamest names Chase had ever heard, were actually pretty powerful. He didn't think he was the heaviest hitter in the rag tag team, but with these babies and the goggles on his head, he had to at least be carrying his weight in the power department. Still, he couldn't help but feel a little bit weird about going on a rampage with a couple of other kids that he had previously only seen once a year.
However, deep down, it wasn't really that that was bothering him. No matter how screwed up they were, he didn't want to have to torch his parents, that seemed a little wrong. Now, he was ready to do it, if the last weeks had taught him anything, it was that this was only going to be solved one way and as the oldest, Chase had had to accept it pretty quickly, since the others were bound to have more of their inner child toward the outside then him, well, except for Gert, but Chase wasn't sure she even had an inner child.
He looked up when he heard the thumping of footsteps come closer, "Hey, Bruiser," he said with a half smile to their youngest member as she approached got further into his area, wearing her emotions on her sleeve. "What's up?" he said, not wanting to ask the obvious question, 'what's the matter?' because these days, there was just to much ground to cover for that one.
"Nothing, I've just been having trouble sleeping since we all almost got turned into vampires," she responded, trying to sound casual and taking a seat next to him. Chase was pretty doubtful that that was what was really on her mind, especially since he knew that she knew what was going to happen tomorrow.
"Oh yeah? I wouldn't let it get to you, as long as we got Karolina around, I don't think any more of them will be showing up," he said comfortingly, "and besides, this time, we'll be prepared for them." It was odd how he actually enjoyed talking to Molly more than he did the others some times. He never felt like she thought he was some stupid ass who didn't know anything, and that was kind of refreshing, even if it was pretty much the truth. Plus, he doubted she was the type to be the mole, which was a plus in her direction.
"Yeah," she said, obviously not actually caring about that answer. They just sort of sat there for a moment, neither of them sure if they wanted to talk about the real problem. Chase looked up at the stars for second. He had never really cared about either astrology or astronomy, nor did he really know what the difference was, but, he did like to just look at the sky every once in a while.
"Bet you can't find Karolina's planet," he said challengingly, trying to lighten the mood. The younger kid's head shot up, stargazing having not been on the agenda ever since they were holed up in his secret base.
"Bet I can," she responded, taking almost no time to just point up wards, "right there," she said, with no real rhyme or reason as far as Chase could tell.
"Huh, you never know," he answered, just letting the thought linger. It wasn't like he really wanted to go there, unless of course, it was filled with a bunch of babes like Karolina, then he'd be there in a heart beat, but he figured a planet like that was much to good to be true.
