History: The littel sister of Colossous was kidnapped by Miss. Lockee as a barganing chip to get the X-men to free Arcade from Dr. Doom. after which, Illyana stayed on with her brother butill the fateful day the sorceerer Belasco kidnapped her to the enchanted relm of Limbo. There he proceded turn Illyana toward evil, piece by piece in hopes of making her a gateway for his Elder Gods to enter and rule the Earth.
But Illyana's grasp on her humanity was grater than Belasco had anticipated, and the dawning of her own mutant power to summon and control the time/space stepping disks of Limbo helped her all the more. With one great push of her own learned magic, Illyana fordged the Soul Sword as a focus and symbol of her own magical might. In a firce battel Illyana siezed control of Limbo, Belasco, having been abandoned as the weaker of the two by his Elder Gods. But Illyana spared his life after atching his own demonic features fade while she herself gained such traits. dispite what had been done to her, she was still in control.
She returned to Earth to join the New Mutants untill a rebelious faction of demons in Limbo instigated New York's Inferno. Her power was out of control. As much as she loved her life on Earth, she had other responcibilities. the arrival of a younger Illyana and a few magical spells to obscure the facts and Illyana was off on a quest to solidify her rule over Limbo once and for all. Much was learned in her travels from dimension to dimension. Much magic, both black and white. Much was learned about the nature of Limbo and the psychological manifestations that were the demons. Magik had been fighing them as the physical demons when she should have been fighting her own inner demons. It took time, but Illyana made peace with herself. Her two sides becomming one. The threat of the Darkchilde was gone, but so was the pure innocence of Piotor's "Little Snowflake." She was in control, but she wasn't ready to face her friends in the X-men yet. Fortunately fated had conspired in her favor placeing her old teammate, Roberto DaCosta in the position of Lord Imperial of the Hellfire Club.
It was a simple bargan, Illyana needed an "in" to the superhero life, and 'Berto needed those he could more than less trust in positions of power. Illyana became the new Red Rook.
