Known Powers: Pyrokenisis ( ability to control, create, and manipulate fire). He can melt steel into a puddle of...what steel is. His body temperature can sometimes be at 200 degrees. He can make a fireball the size of a refrigerator.
When he is in danger, usually he will pull off his trump card: fire tentacles. These tentacles come from his back and are exact three meters long. They are as hot as Pyro and can go up to about eight. Though they can lower Pyro's body temperature making him somewhat weaker.

History: Pyro is one of the world's youngest and best criminal ever. He had been in trouble with the law before and at times, almost received the death penalty though he was able to slip out before it was carried out. He is the leader of a mafia/ gang known as the Pyromaniacs. When he was born, he held a symptom that could allow him to control fire. He received this power from his father, who kept his power dormant though it never went away. (He carries the genes from his father since his father was engaged in a fight with a mutant who had Pyrokenisis who tried to kill him near a chemical plant explosion, giving Pyro's father the mutant's power). After four months of life, he began getting high fevers (though he wasn't sick). Panicking, she took him to the emergency room where they underwent surgery. During surgery, they found a rare disease in him. It was called Pyrokinesis, giving him powers that he could control and create fire. It was more of a gift than a disease but they called it a tragic disease since it incurables and there was no medication for it.

It wasn't long before the media got whiff of this disease and went crazy giving Jermaine a nickname. "Freak baby" was his new nickname. Some people feared him and knew that he was able to manipulate fire and he would occasionally would accidentally set stuff on fire. For 4 years that would keep happening and when he turned 7. The FBI gave his mother a sum of money if she allowed him to give him her son. Of course she did it without any question and he was sent away to a lab located in Area 51 Roswell in New Mexico, where they did some experiments on him. While the experiments were horrible, they treated him like somewhat of a kid with constant 24/7 troops studying him. He didn't play much or talk. While inside of the lab, since they intended on keeping him for life they didn't allow him to go to a school and taught him there. He learned chemicals and stuff that one would learn in college. Aside from a great education but crappy living style, he learned the world for nothing than what it really was. Pigs, taking advantage of people and taking advantage of him because they feared him for what he could do. He decided that he would escape and show them what fear was and what he really could do.

The night of his escape, he had officially turned 10. He was assigned three assistance: A morning shift assistant an afternoon assistant, and a night shift assistant. When it was night and the lab wasn't so fully secured, he asked for a cup of water, hiding the fact that he couldn't drink water. When the assistant returned, she was burned to death. That was his time to escape as he was being chased by the security still there. He had to leave his information there and escaped (barely), running away from the lab and the people trying to recapture him. He immediately left Area 51 Roswell by getting on the closet airport (stealing a ticket to back to NYC, oh god). FBI agents were sent to the airport trying to find him while keeping the secret under wraps. When he got to New York, he was alone in the world and having no place else to turn to, he slept on the streets, hating the world more and more.

He couldn't take sleeping on the street and he constantly was robbed. He needed protection and a better living style and the only thing that was looking good for him was to join a gang (when he was saved by a gang member. He was still training his fire power). Though the gang that he joined want to do any high stakes robberies such as robbing a bank so he was kicked out. That's when he saw a criminal who was arrested for embezzlement for more than 5 million dollars. He knew that those were the type people who would risk everything for the American dream like him. So with his college brain, he decided that he would go to a maximum security prison, hopefully the worst one, to make a gang of his own. But how was he going to do that? Choosing what was the best way to be arrested, he decided that he would wait three years, buy a gun, and rob a bank.

Three years went by and he burned a person to death to get a gun. He decided that it was time for him to emerge from his shell of horrible living style and turn into a hardcore criminal. He killed people, he didn't care. He was already in too deep to go turn back. That's when he went to the bank and robbed it. Deciding that it wouldn't be enough to let the bank be robbed by a 13 year old, he shot a police officer who tried to stop him and ran. No doubt he was arrested and the judge sent to a maximum security prison, even if there was protests.

When he reached the prison, he shared a cell with a criminal who received a life sentence nicknamed "Checkered-faced" Joe, because of the multiple checkered scars on his face. Joe took a small shine with Pyro and Pyro trusted Joe. He told him all about what he did before he was arrested and his secret power. He then showed Joe his power and said that he wanted to make a gang to get the world on their knees. He and Joe recruited the whole prison and they broke free then pledged their loyalty as Pyro's army. They went into the streets robbing banks and doing what tough criminals do best. They were called Pyromaniacs, working under the teenager Pyro. Over the years he became better and better with his powers.

While causing havoc, he still felt uneasy as the Scarlet witch began stirring trouble as making the mutants the most dominate species in the known galaxy. Surely for him that would be a good thing but something didn't go right for him. Soon he started to slowly lose the temperature of his fire into regular flames, something that made him worry. He decided that it would be best to go into a relocation and quit being the hellraiser known as Pyro. Though, he had a rack of evidence against him so leaving the country was something that the American government wouldn't allow. If he was to leave to go to another world then he could probably stay there for life...who knew. One thing was for certain though, he wanted to keep his powers. Thats when he found out that he could try but he would risk becoming human and maybe staying human.

He then drained 2 liters of his blood inside a special made bottle and traveled to Hawaii on a stolen helicopter, making his way to the nearest volcano. He knew that if he threw it inside of the volcano, he would never be able to use his power, so he buried it on the volcano's surface, deep enough that if it was to ever errupt, it would just get hotter until he was able to drink it again. His blood, carrying a high temperature of heat, sat underground a volcano heating as M-day passed and practically all the mutants lost their powers.

Pyro eventually forgot that he buried his powers and barely remembered that he was Pyro. He lived on a distant island far from the United States but close to the lone island of Hawaii until the fateful day came when he would remember his 'blood' and turn back to the great Pyro.

Personality: (For the hell of it): Pyro is the type of person who believes that they are better than somebody, though to Pyro, because of his power he knows he's better. Since his goal in life is to become the absolute ruler of the world, he can usually turn on either side quickly to get what he wants. He cares nothing about the well-being of anybody, whether he cares deeply for them or not. A better word to describe him is a spoiled brat. He won't stop until he gets what he wants and will go to any lengths on getting it and regain his powers.
When things usually doesn't go his way, he will try to get out of the situation the best way he knows how; lying. He will pin it on the next person, and that's the reason he never does anything by himself. If he goes down, someone defiantly will be going down with him, no matter who it is. Though he may seem conceded in bringing the world down to it's knees, people may call him as stupid, something that he isn't. If anything, he's an evil genius who can make inventions beyond people's belief. Hard to believe that he's still a teenager.

The exact source and explanation for this power, pyrokinesis, is needed in order to properly assess the status of your character. How it was acquired. Through what means. And why to your character.

And, though not required, I may suggest the name “Freak Baby” as a former alias—as it fits the description of the subject.

Given that your character has now been classified as a mutant, your history will need to be updated to accommodate the setting and events of Decimation and your character’s depowering as of M-Day.

The actions of House of M and Decimation are inconsistent to your character’s history. House of M was a literal alteration of the known reality. The inhabitants of Earth awoke into the Scarlet Witch’s ‘perfect’ reality without knowledge of the previous reality before it. Only two inhabitants of Earth were aware of this false reality, as well as certain Skrull agents, meanwhile the majority of planet Earth was completely unaware that they were under the effects of the Scarlet Witch’s illusion—they simply lived their lives just as the Scarlet Witch had envisioned they should. But without any warning, the majority of the mutant population on Earth instantly lost their powers all at once. They returned to the natural reality, unaware of the false Scarlet Witch reality they had experienced.

The mutant power is only effective through a genetic level. The closest replication through the consummation of mutant powers, by ingestion, would be the temporary effects of the addictive narcotic known as Mutant Growth Hormone (MGH)—the drug itself is extracted from the genetic material of genetic mutants. But the repercussions of the Scarlet Witch’s actions were so intense, that the decimation of the mutant species not only spread throughout the entire planet of Earth, but it continued onward through millions of other alternate realities of alternate earths in parallel dimensions beyond that of universe 616—as revealed so in the Endangered Species storyline. Even so, the depowering even affected previously obtained stocks of MGH from depowered mutants, making the drug no longer viable. Yet all MGH extracted from currently powered mutants remained potent. Naturally, drinking cryogenically preserved and volcanic tempered depowered mutant blood would not have the desired effect.

Beside the point, the human adult contains only about four to five liters of blood within the body, accounting for roughly seven percent of the human body weight—naturally this amount would be less inside the body of a teenager. Donating blood takes eight to ten percent of the donor’s blood volume, removing more than forty percent of the donor’s blood volume results in death. Given the specifications of your character, there is roughly 4.45 liters of blood inside your character’s body. Two liters would be fatal within the body of a 5’7 and 140 lb young adult, unless this character possessed some sort of other mutant regeneration ability that was not included within the powers section of this profile; which would then need to be included.

If you were looking to have your character reclaim their powers, there are other options. Certain characters have been able to become repowered, but their methods were extreme and beyond modern science. Sources such as the M’Krann Crystal, and advanced alien technology coupled with highly evolved genetic tampering through Apocalypse’s extraordinary engineering. There have been temporary effects of repowering through contact of the Inhuman technology of the Terrigen Mists, but this has proved fatal in every species outside the Inhuman race save for one mutant who now grows the crystals in his body. There have been technological solutions, such as power suits that artificially replicate these abilities, but the powers only last through the hardware of the suit itself—the user still remaining powerless. There is a certain percentage of success when using the drug MGH, but its effects are temporary and highly addictive. The temporary powers gained from MGH are not always constant, as they seem to mimic the powers of the mutant from which they were extracted from rather than replicate any previous powers of whoever consumes the drug, but the drug does enhance any powers already present within whoever consumes it. Yet this is a more natural and achievable solution, given your character’s history and setting. Regardless of the option you take, you will be required to update the section of your character’s powers.

But, this depowering only remains a problem if you wish to continue your character’s history as a mutant. Possession of the X-Gene is not the only means to possess superpowers or superhuman abilities. There are other diverse and more creative options, than simply being born with powers, for originating pyrokinesis. Advice could be offered should you request it.

The prominent and only issue of this character, Jermaine “Pyro” Alumina, resides with the character’s history. The origin for which creates this character’s superhuman powers, as you wish to intend to continue the use of these powers, conflicts with the current setting. As it stands, classifying Pyro as a mutant places the character in the state of depowerment. The logical resolution is to change the origin of the character’s powers to another genre other than mutant.

Keeping in mind that there are other various approaches to this resolution, the easiest and accessible remedy can be done with only minor adjustments to Jermaine’s history. Additionally, there are numerous other options that can complexly reshape the tone and background of the character, but for now the most accessible change will be addressed.



The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe defines a mutant as “an individual born with (or the potential for) genetic variation from a normal member of their species; mutant abilities usually manifest themselves as a superhuman power. Mutants are not to be confused with mutates, people who obtained superhuman powers through exposure to a mutagenic substance. Mutant powers may be at least partially inherited from one or more mutant’s parents, but variance in abilities can be found even in such cases (such as the mutant Siryn, whose sonic powers are subtly different from those of her mutant father, Banshee). The offspring of mutates are often mutants. Most mutants exhibit their genetic mutation by the time of adolescence.” As this character, Pyro, activated his mutant abilities in early stages infantry, instead of the standard puberty stage, doubt is already insinuated as to the authenticity of Pyro’s mutant origin—though some exceptions have been made (such as the case of Franklin Richards).

Given the background of Jermaine Alumina, the easiest and most simple solution is to modify the character’s status from mutant to mutate. Given the trail of experiments performed on Pyro, it can be suggested that perhaps these experiments were no coincidence. Though little information is given about Jermaine’s parents, perhaps it can be modified that one, or both, parents were purposefully instrumental in manifesting a superpowered offspring. Given that the mother was offered a large sum of compensation for the child’s possession, it is suggested that the parents lack sufficient funding to research or experiment successfully on the subject of genetic enhancement.

Therefore, a third-party must be necessary in order to properly supply ample funding in order to enhance said child. Given the subject of genetic tampering and fetal experimenting is general outlawed, it is then obvious that whoever supplies or experiments on Pyro must partake in illegal activities.

There are various criminal organizations, notably terrorist related, that deal with the subject of genetic tampering. You are welcome to create and design your own illegal organization, but the Marvel Universe already contains various other organizations to chose from. Organizations such as the Enclave and A.I.M. have sufficient enough funding to modify an embryo or fetus before it is born, but the Enclave is divided as far as its research is concerns and lacks recent activity—A.I.M., alternatively tends to lean to a more technological source rather than biological. There are such organizations such as Weapon X and the Hellfire Club, but both tend to lean towards a mutant agenda, not mutate. Weapon X deals with established and matured mutants as the Hellfire Club employs and funds terrorist activities but rarely experiments. Yet, one terrorist organization tends to supply all necessary needs. Funding. Diversity. Flexibility. Immorality. An organization as vast and creative and HYDRA could easily fund supply the catalyst for Pyro’s superhuman powers.

HYDRA could supply the cause to experiment on Pyro’s mother, inducing the desired result of pyrokinesis. Genetic tampering of the fetus or embryo during pregnancy would produce the mutate. One, or both, parents could have an involvement with the HYDRA organization. Voluntarily, or involuntary, subjecting an unborn child to experimentation. As Pyro’s mother did willingly sell the child, perhaps it is suggested she was not informed that her child had been experimented on during pregnancy. It is then preferred that it was Jermaine’s father who subjected his wife, and child, to experimentation—his death would leave the secret buried to both the widow and son. The reason why as to HYDRA, or whichever fictional organization you would create, would decide to create a being with pyrokinesis is vast. A walking bomb they could control. A HYDRA agent cable of devastating power. A living source of pure energy. Whichever the reason, it must be revealed that it was Pyro’s father that willingly put is future son into the hands of the HYDRA. As for hiding the experimental procedure from Pyro’s mother, there are means of which to accommodate this—such as memory wiping, hypnotism, and indoctrination. The result being that Jermaine’s mother was unaware of the procedure performed on her, and her son, during pregnancy.

Additionally, you could expand HYDRA’s involvement with your character by defining HYDRA as the organization that retrieved Pyro when he manifested his powers—making HYDRA the organization that experimented on him for ten years instead .

Also, as a creative suggestion, this new opportunity opens a new avenue of this character’s life. The following is merely suggestions that can be implemented if you wish to expand on these new prospects of the character.

What entertains a reader are stories and adventures, but what entices a reader are the character within these tales. Most predominantly, flaws can be more beneficial that most would originally believe. Pyro’s hate and desire for revenge against his mother could be placed on the misconception that his mother willingly gave Pyro away. This could be changed to being forcefully stolen away, with no compensation of money at all. Lies from HYDRA can mask the truth. Believing that his mother willingly made Pyro the way he is, though truthfully she did not, could add to this character’s complexity. As well, HYDRA could also safeguard their investment in the creation of Pyro by employing a means in which to counteract any sort of relation against them by Jermaine. A device that could, should they wish, fatally end Pyro. In ten years of experimenting, some sort of countermeasure must have been made. Weaknesses do add to the drama of the character’s story.
