Crown City A bustling metropolis adorned with wide boulevards and monuments depicting the Emperor at ever turn with the Imperial Palace at its center. But outside the affluent neighborhoods inhabited by Imperial oligarchs, arena and trader districts, slave auction blocks, a multicultural marketplaces, most of Crown City is a labyrinth of shacks and substandard dwellings. Outside the city walls exists a pristine countryside with sloping green hills and dotted with palatial estates where the richest Imperial oligarchs reside when they are not conducting business within the city. Directly to Crown City’s east is the Imperial Canal, an artificial waterway constructed by slave labor so that the Empire would have easy access to the Fillian Sea. Moderator: Uatu the Watcher |

The Great Arena Situated in the Crown City’s southwestern quadrant, it is the city’s largest single building and serves as the central gathering place for all members of society, both poor and wealthy. Construction on the “Great Arena Project” began in 517 Post as Imperial architects began breaking down segments of Tego Arena’s marble façade to expand the facility. Construction was finally completed in 548 Post, eight years after the end of the Spike War and twenty-nine years after construction of the massive structure began. Standing nearly 70 meters high, the Great Arena dwarfs all other structures in the Crown City’s Arena District. Enclosed by a 10-meter tall stone wall, the wide, elliptical arena floor is covered in sand and carefully maintained by a team of slaves before and after gladiator matches. A labyrinth of underground stone tunnels runs beneath the arena floor, containing immense cages where the fierce animal competitors are kept prior to combat. Seating, now constructed mostly of metal, is divided into different sections according to social status. The first level of seating is reserved for the box seats of Imperial Oligarchs, who watch the matches while attended by teams of domestic robots, and also features the Emperor’s private metal, open-air skybox. Above the oligarch level is the middle tier of seating, occupied by wealthy merchants and other members of upper-middle class society. The third and final level, located along the top edge of the arena, is left for the poorest citizens and domestic slaves, constantly patrolled by a legion of Imperial Guardsman wielding Neuro-Lances. Gladiator Quarters An underground tunnel also connects the Great Arena to the nearby Gladiator Quarters, where the various slave-warriors are housed prior to their matches. At all times, gladiators are securely maintained by Imperial guardsman to prevent escape and that all participants arrive, on time, for their competition in The Great Games. The Maw - 1 Viewing Named for its location in the northern expanse of the Mawkaw Mountains, the Maw Gladiatorial Training Facility is actually located inside one of the largest known volcanic crater in the mountain range. The Maw first came to prominence during the Spike War, where the Father Emperor established the Maw as his temporary headquarters. Following the defeat of the Spikes, the Father Emperor reinstated the Great Games and associated gladiatorial combat events. But, unlike the games of old, these new games were to feature predominantly criminals, slaves, and captured enemy combatants. As such, it was felt that a harsh, prison-like training environment was needed to sculpt these unwilling participants into suitable gladiators – and the Father Emperor decided that the Maw was perfectly suited for such a role. Already equipped with metal guard towers from its time as an Imperial fortress during the Spike War, the Maw was outfitted with cages to house its trainees and elevated, air-conditioned facilities to house its trainers. The Maw soon earned a reputation as the Empire’s most lethal gladiator training school. Trainees are ferried up the Mawkaw mountainside in giant cages strapped to the backs of drammoth and, upon arrival, are immediately forced to battle against an assortment of vicious animals in the volcano’s sweltering heat. In order to narrow the number of trainees down to more manageable levels, elimination matches are held in which twenty-two combatants are forced into combat against each other, with only the last seven living able to advance in the next rounds. Those few fortunate enough to survive the Maw’s many challenges find themselves one step closer to every gladiator’s dream: competition at the Great Games. Moderator: Uatu the Watcher |

The Great Desert A harsh desert climate whose temperatures are too extreme for members of the Imperial races and even most Natives, the Great Desert is primarily inhabited by the nomadic Shadow People who view it as a Saka holy region. It is filled with great mountain ranges and hidden, oasis-like forests where Shadow People dwell in obscurity. One such mountain is know as “Prophet Rock,” where, according to legend, the teachings forming the basis of the Saka religion were revealed millennia ago. Shadow People often make pilgrimages to Prophet Rock, which they view as the holiest of their holy sites. Moderator: Uatu the Watcher |
